God has broken into this universe with good news, and that good news is concerning His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. We need to see the background of that good news in order to recognize what good news it is. The gospel of God concerning His Son is not just, "repent and believe". It is not just, "if you believe you shall be saved", not just, "you shall be saved from hell and you shall go to heaven". Oh, how infinitely wonderful is the gospel! It is a universe filled with the glory of God's Son for whom it was created, and you and I are called through the gospel to have a place in all the meaning of the fulness of the times: the summing up of all things in Christ. We are translated into the kingdom of the Son of His love, and that is a vast thing, and our gospel takes us far beyond temporal things, the seen things; it takes us to the unseen, the eternal, and they are to be the dominating things of life.
